SINTRA WITH IMPROVED ACCESS AND MOBILITY
The Sintra Council will launch an experimental mobility program on 19th March with the aim of improving access, safety for those who live and work in Sintra, and the visitor experience.
The “Living and Visiting Sintra” operation includes reinforced signage and the installation of operational control points in strategic locations, ensuring guidance, enforcement, and continuous monitoring.
Regarding safety, a special emergency device will be activated, which includes the installation of a Mobile Command Post in the Historic Center, reinforcing its response capacity.
Marco Almeida emphasizes that “with this special mobility operation, we want to create clear rules that optimize traffic flow and reduce car congestion. Our goal is simple: to better organize and reduce traffic constraints in the historic center.”
The implementation of this plan, which runs until 6th April, involves the Guarda Nacional Republicana, Polícia Municipal, firefighters, Proteção Civil, EMES, Parques de Sintra - Monte da Lua and Fundação CulturSintra.
The Sintra Council appeals for the cooperation of everyone, especially tour operators and visitors, to ensure smoother traffic flow and a more organized visitor experience.
