PIAZZOLLA FOREVER

By Ibertrio
Quinta da Regaleira
Nuno Meira, violin
Américo Martins, cello
Isolda Crespi Rubio, piano
With its origins in African dances, the Cuban habanera and the Argentine milonga, the Tango was born in the oldest neighbourhoods of the Argentine capital, becoming a musical symbol of the country.
Born in this enriched tradition, the Argentinian Astor Piazzolla introduced innovations in timbre, harmony and rhythm, binding Tango with Jazz and European music, giving birth to a New Tango (‘Nuevo Tango’) with renewed vitality and a resounding international reception to this day.
The ‘Piazzolla Sempre’ Recital aims to honour this composer through some of his best-known works such as the ‘Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas’ or ‘La Muerte del Ángel’, while also invoking the great names of tango such as Carlos Gardel, Alberto Ginastera and Pablo Ziegler.
With this programme Ibertrio is pleased to invite the public to an evening full of sensuality, lyricism, vitality and joy. Feel invited!
