CONCERT FOR THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF SERGEY RACHMANINOFF
By Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional

In the 150 years since the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff (April 1, 1873 - March 28, 1943) the piano class of the Artistic School of Music of the National Conservatory dedicates a recital entirely composed of the music of the genius and inescapable Russian musician . Personifying the inexhaustible pianistic imagery like few others and exploring the instrument's technical and expressive possibilities to the limit, Rachmaninoff continues to be a brilliant superior who guides the steps of all piano music lovers and beyond. In this concert, students from Secondary and Basic courses, aged from 11 to 18 years old, will be presented and we will have the opportunity to listen and revisit some of the best known pages of pianistic literature along with other treasures that came out of the generous hands of Sergei Rachmaninoff.

PIANO RECITAL “Love and Spring”
By pianist Raul Pinto

Chopin - Nocturnes
Liszt - Liebestraum
Schubert/Liszt - Lieder

Urgently

Love is urgent.
A boat at sea is urgently needed.

It is urgent to destroy certain words,
hate, loneliness and cruelty,
some regrets,
many swords.

It is urgent to invent joy,
multiply the kisses, the cornfields,
it is urgent to discover roses and rivers
and clear mornings.

Silence falls on the shoulders and the light
unclean, until it hurts.
Love is urgent, it is urgent
stay.

Eugénio de Andrade, in "See you tomorrow". 1956
